2ND ANNUAL HAROLD HUNTER DAY | COMMEMORATIVE DECK AND T-SHIRT

On May 17, 2008, the 2nd Annual Harold Hunter Day brought together NYC’s skateboarding community for a positive day of shredding in honor of the late, great Harold Hunter.

In celebration of this noteworthy occasion and to keep Harold’s spirit strong, the Harold Hunter Foundation teamed up with The ZY Institute to release a limited edition HH Day II commemorative skateboard deck and t-shirt featuring Harold pics by long-time friend and acclaimed photographer, Giovanni Reda.

Both items are now available only at select New York shops including Rival, Autumn, Everything Must Go, Richmond Hood Company, Blades, and Coney Island Skateshop. Additionally, a special bundled kit including a deck, t-shirt and signed copy of Reda’s “Harold Hunter: The Book” is available exclusively at KCDC. Proceeds from the sale of all HH Day II commemorative gear will be donated to the non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation which will use the funds to send six underprivileged NYC kids to Camp Woodward.

2ND ANNUAL HAROLD HUNTER DAY | MAY 17, 2008 | MANHATTAN BRIDGE JAM

HH-Day_Event-Flyer

On Saturday, May 17th, the 2nd Annual Harold Hunter Day was held in NYC. All week leading up to the event the weather report wasn’t looking too promising as cool temps and showers were forecasted. However, Harold himself must have been smiling down on us because Saturday turned out to be a beauty with temps in the mid-70’s and nothing but sunshine.

500+ skaters and spectators swarmed the Manhattan Bridge Skatepark in Chinatown from Noon-6pm for a positive day of shredding in memory of Harold. Plenty of big names showed up including Chad Muska, The Gonz, Jeremy Henderson, Aaron Suski, Vinny Raffa, Steve Rodriguez, Luis Tolentino, Brandon Westgate, Anthony Shetler, Jahmal Williams, Billy Rohan, Rodney Torres, Kevin Taylor, Vinny Ponte, Todd Jordan, Robert Lopez-Mont, Jeff Pang, and many more. And to keep the crowds jumpin’, New York’s finest, Pete Rock, crushed it on the tables as he served up classic jam after classic jam for hours.

When the skate session began to wind down, a massive product toss was held and the crowd definitely got hooked up Harold-style with dozens of decks, tees, wheels, DVD’s, stickers, hats, and sneakers. A huge thanks goes out to all the companies that kicked down product and lent their support including the Harold Hunter Foundation, Rock Star Bearings, SHUT, 5boro, New Era, The ZY Institute, Hopps, Official, Instant Winner, UXA, Verte, Acapulco Gold, Billy’s Nuts, Savage, Off Bowery, Everything Must Go, Frank 151, DQM, Rival, Supreme, Autumn, KCDC, Anything, Red Bull, Function Drinks, and Camp Woodward.

2ND ANNUAL HAROLD HUNTER DAY | MAY 17, 2008 | KCDC AFTER-PARTY

After six hours of skating and hanging in the sun, the 21+ crowd was definitely ready to chill out with some cold beers. And what better place to do that than at KCDC Skateshop? From 8pm-Midnight, hundreds of people packed into KCDC for the official HH Day II after party. The mini-ramp session went off as it always does when top NYC rippers are in the house, DJ Neil Nice pumped out the beats, a touching slide show of Harold pics by Giovanni Reda ran all night, and party goers enjoyed tasty beverages generously donated by Newcastle, Pacifico, Red Bull and Function Drinks.

By all accounts, Harold Hunter Day II was an excellent event and the NYC skateboarding community is already looking forward to next year. At the end of the day, it’s all about bringing together Harold’s friends and family to remember and pay tribute to a true New York icon. Harold definitely would have been psyched on how the day went, and that’s what matters most. Legends Never Die!
