LEGENDS NEVER DIE!

HH DAY VII SET FOR OCTOBER 12 IN NYC

The Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF), in association with primary sponsors Airwalk, Skullcandy, Zoo York, Monster Energy, and Supreme, is proud to announce the 7th Annual Harold Hunter Day will go down Saturday, October 12th, from 1:00-5:00pm at NYC’s Coleman Oval/L.E.S. Skatepark under the Manhattan Bridge.

Established in 2006 after Harold’s untimely passing, and managed by the non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation, Harold Hunter Day VII will once again unite NYC’s tight-knit skate community for a positive, fun-filled day of skateboarding in memory of Harold. The event celebrates what Harold cherished most: skateboarding, music, friends, family, and of course, New York City.

Hosted by Jefferson Pang and Dave Ortiz, with live music provided by DJ Smoke L.E.S., Harold Hunter Day VII will feature an all-ages skate jam with appearances by pro skateboarders, pop-up Best Trick contests, and massive product giveaways.

As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Harold Hunter Foundation relies on support from the skate community and related outlets to achieve its mission of using skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness and the development of life skills.

In this spirit, one of the HHF’s major initiatives each year is its Skate Camp Scholarship. Since the organization’s inception, close to 100 scholarships have been awarded to deserving local skaters to attend Camp Woodward and/or the Element YMCA Skate Camp through funds raised by the HHF.

With fundraising in mind, this fall the Harold Hunter Foundation will proudly release three limited edition collaborations with Airwalk, Skullcandy and Zoo York. Proceeds from all three collabs will benefit the HHF to help further its youth-focused programs.

The Hunter Collection by Airwalk features a skate shoe and t-shirt capsule that pays homage to Harold. The low profile, vulcanized sneaker retails for $50.00, and the t-shirt for $19.99. Both co-branded items are exclusively available at Airwalk.com, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the HHF.

Harold was a huge music fan, so collaborating with Skullcandy was a natural fit. The HHF x Skullcandy Aviator headphone is emblazoned with an iconic portrait of Harold that was photographed by Giovanni Reda. Featuring industry-leading Supreme Sound technology and a sophisticated aesthetic, only 100 pairs of the hand-numbered and assembled headphones will be available beginning October 12th at Skullcandy.com, TheBerrics.com, and the SHUT store on NYC’s Lower East Side. All proceeds will benefit the HHF.

Harold was one of the OG members of the Zoo Crew. It was his legendary antics and larger-than-life personality that helped put the NYC skate scene on the map years ago. Zoo York is celebrating the extraordinary history of East Coast skateboarding with its new Zoo York Kings collection. To launch the premium apparel and hardgoods offering, and celebrate the life and times of Harold, Zoo York has teamed up with the Harold Hunter Foundation to release a limited edition deck and t-shirt. The collaborative kit will only be available at select skate shops, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the HHF.

Harold Hunter Day VII is made possible through generous support from the aforementioned primary sponsors as well as 5boro, SHUT, TORRO!, Rock Star Bearings, Trophy Grip, New Breed, UXA, Shake Shack, The Professionals: NYC Sound Company, and the collective NYC skateboarding community.

HH DAY VI SET FOR OCTOBER 13TH IN NYC

The Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF), in association with primary sponsors Airwalk, Zoo York, Supreme, and Monster Energy, is proud to announce the 6th Annual Harold Hunter Day will take place Saturday, October 13th, from 1:00-5:00pm at the all-new Coleman Oval/L.E.S. Skatepark under the Manhattan Bridge.

Established in 2006 after Harold’s untimely passing, and managed by the non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation, Harold Hunter Day VI will once again unite NYC’s skate community for a positive, fun-filled day of skateboarding and remembrance. The event commemorates a life well lived by celebrating the things Harold loved most: skateboarding, music, friends, family, and of course, New York City.

“HH Day is a day of togetherness where people from various boroughs, states and even countries come out to skate and bring the energy that Harold always brought–the feeling of having a great time with great friends no matter what your circumstance is,” said Alex Corporan, HHF Advisory Board Member and Harold’s longtime friend.

On Saturday afternoon, October 13th, Harold Hunter Day VI will go down at the L.E.S Skatepark on the corner of Pike and Monroe Streets in lower Manhattan. An all-ages skate jam will run from 1:00-5:00pm and feature product giveaways, appearances by pro skateboarders, live music from DJ Smoke L.E.S., pop-up Best Trick contests, and screenings of youth-made films from the Kickflip Project.

“Before Harold passed away, we always kicked around the idea of having one big session and party to bring all his friends together–now we do it in his honor each year and it’s always one of the best events in New York,” said Mark Nardelli, Co-Owner of 5BORO NYC and HHF Advisory Board Member. “Thanks to the close friends and family who have carried the torch for Harold Hunter Day for the past six years. Let’s do this HAROLD STYLE!!!”

In this spirit, one of the HHF’s major initiatives each year is its Skate Camp Scholarship program. Since the organization’s inception, 68 scholarships have been awarded to local skaters to attend Camp Woodward and/or the Element YMCA Skate Camp through funds raised by the HHF. For 2013, the HHF hopes to provide 25 more Skate Camp Scholarships to deserving NYC youth.

With this goal in mind, a limited edition Harold Hunter Day VI t-shirt will be sold at the event with all proceeds benefiting the Harold Hunter Foundation. The t-shirt features a photo by Charlie Samuels of Harold “skitching” a yellow cab in 1989 under the watchful eye of the Twin Towers. Originally featured in Thrasher Magazine, more recently it was included in the critically acclaimed book, Full Bleed: New York City Skateboard Photography. After HH Day, a small quantity of t-shirts will be sold on airwalk.com and at the SHUT Store in Manhattan.

Harold Hunter Day VI is made possible through generous support from Airwalk, Zoo York, Supreme, Monster Energy, CCS, SHUT, City Lore, Rock Star Bearings, NYskateboarding.com, Trophy Grip, Reel Works, The Professionals: NYC Sound Company, and the collective New York City skateboard community.

A special Harold Hunter Day Pre-Party hosted by Alex Corporan and Michael Cohen will take place Wednesday night, October 10th, from 7:00-10:00pm at the White Rabbit (145 East Houston Street). A $5 donation and proper ID (21+) gets you in, with complimentary drinks served up by Pabst Blue Ribbon and Legend of Kremlin, while supplies last. DJ Smoke L.E.S. and TJ Mizell will be spinning, and raffle items will be provided by a bevy of top brands. All money raised will support the HHF’s Skate Camp Scholarship fund.
